Do You Really Need To Do It All Yourself?
You've read in past newsletters about using goals and the
importance of effective time management in ensuring that you
achieve them. But even so there sometimes seems to be so much
to do and so many things you want to achieve that no matter
how well organised you are, there are just not enough hours in
the day.
But in reality sometimes it's easy to think that you need to do
more than is really necessary. After all the old saying is,
"If you want a job doing well, then do it yourself!"
But that attitude really can be counter-productive. There are
times when it may well serve you better to get someone else to
do certain things.
This can be the case both at work and in your personal life.
For instance it may seem like a good cost saving exercise to
re-decorate your home yourself. But it can be a false economy.
Just think of the other things you could be doing, perhaps
including earning some money, while you're tied up with a
paint brush in your hand. Paying someone else to do it for
you will free up your time and you'll probably end up getting
a much better job done anyway.
And what about those regular chores like cleaning and
gardening, well they're certainly chores to me! You could
easily and cheaply get someone in to do most of the work
while you are using your time far more productively.
And the same thing applies in your work life, especially if
you are running your own business. Do you really need to be
doing it all yourself? Do you spend your time doing things
that actually prevent you from dealing with the main
profit-producing activities in your business?
So take time to look at the things you do each day and decide
if they are actually helping you to achieve your goals. Or
are they in reality preventing you from doing so?
How easy would it be to get someone else to do these things?
Would the cost be outweighed by your increased productivity?
What at first might seem a large expense could in fact be
less than the extra revenue you can bring in by being able
to concentrate on your key activities.
All of the following are things you could easily outsource
so have a look to see if doing so would benefit you in your
personal life or your business:
- Cleaning
- Laundry
- Gardening
- Typing
- Book-keeping
- Web Design
- Order Fulfilment
- Answering the phone
- Letter writing
There are many more activities that I'm sure you could think
of and by delegating just one or two you really could benefit
and make far more effective use of your time.
So why not give it a try.

PMA - Personal Development Thinking For Success
By Michael McGrath
Your attitude is everything! The results you get from life
are in direct proportion to your internal beliefs and
attitude toward yourself and others. I am sure you have met
extremely negative people during your life journey and know
the affect that they have on others. They also tend to
attract difficult situations into their lives and create
even more of the things that they complain about.
If you have a recurring problem in your life you should
take a very close look at your attitude towards it. Do you
complain about it? Do you resign yourself to it? Do you
EXPECT it to keep occurring? The following personal
development technique can help.
If you view your life from an objective standpoint you will
find that the things that are going wrong in your life are
the very things that you complain about and expect to
happen. By concentrating your mental efforts on the problem
you are actually attracting more things, situations and
people to you that will perpetuate this problem and
probably make it even worse. Without even going into the
universal law of attraction, from a very practical
viewpoint you are projecting to others what you expect from
them and life. People tend to respond to this, albeit
unconsciously, and give you what you expect!
One easy way to reverse your negative thinking in regards
to a recurring situation in your life is to ask yourself
questions. When you encounter a recurring problem you will
find that you make statements such as "not again!", or
"this always happens to me", or "I just knew that would
happen!" You also find that the questions you ask yourself
also reflect the problem itself and not the solution. You
may ask questions such as "why does this always happen to
me", "when is this going to stop happening", or "how long
do I need to keep going through this", or "why can't I get
past this", or "why can't I find a decent partner (job,
home, career etc.).
These questions focus your mind on the problem and your
mind is forced to answer the questions in a negative way.
You may then have thoughts such as "because it's my bad
luck", then your mind goes into a spin and recalls all the
bad luck you have had. You may answer "there are no good
men/women left" so your mind goes into a spin recalling
just how many good people are married and how many "bad"
people are left. Your subconscious mind is then on the
look-out for people and situations that reinforce this
belief and it then alerts you once it finds them.
The key to reversing this downward negative cycle lies in
the way you speak to yourself and others. Instead of making
statements that reinforce the problem reverse your outlook.
Tell yourself "things are getting better" no matter how
unrealistic this seems at first just keep telling yourself
this. Instead of saying things such as "this always happens
to me", or "I just knew that would happen!" tell yourself
"everything happens for a reason" or "I will learn from
this and move forward".
Do not say things like "this will never happen again" or "I
am through with this problem" because you are still focused
on the problem! Keep your focus always on the solution!
Ask yourself questions in a positive way that supports the
outcome you want and not the problem itself. This is a very
powerful yet extremely easy thing to do that will
dramatically transform your attitude and your life!
Ask yourself questions like "what do I need to learn from
this so that I don't have to experience it again?", or "how
can I best deal with this so that I achieve what I want?",
or "where should I look and what should I do to attract the
right partner for me?"
Asking yourself the right questions will change how you
view the situation and force your mind to search for
answers. If the mind does not have the answers it will be
more open to new experiences and the subconscious mind will
be constantly alert for anything that can answer the
questions that you have posed to it. Making statements that
things are getting better forces the subconscious to look
for things that reinforce that belief and alert you to them.
Believe it or not this approach will alter your entire
perception of the world and your role in it. Before long
you will find yourself becoming a much more positive
person. You will gain insight into situations that in the
past where perplexing and a constant irritation.
Try it and see!

Do You Know Your Starting Point?
In last week's newsletter you learned about how businesses use
audits and how you should do your own skills audit to ensure
you have all you need to ensure that you achieve your goals.
One of the important aspects of this process is knowing what
you have now and where and how you are going to get what else
you may require.
But it's also important not to jump too far ahead without
fully exploring your current situation. You must be positive
and be certain that you are fully utilising the skills and
knowledge you already possess. For example, you clearly use a
computer as you are using it to read this newsletter. But what
else do you use it for and how quickly and easily could you
add to it? Also are you using the computer too much for things
that won't really help you accomplish your goals? Can you
change that? You may spend two hours each day playing games on
it but how much more could you achieve if you cut that time in
half and used the other hour to reasearch topics relevant to
your goals on the World Wide Web?
So it's important to take a step back and examine what you do
each day. Try using a diary to analyse how you use your time.
List everything you do and the time spent doing it.
Ask yourself if your time is spent wisely and how your
activities contribute to your goals?
Ask yourself if there is an easy way to find just one extra
hour each day to spend on your important tasks.
And look fully at the resources available to you - your skills,
your knowledge, your tools, even other people - and make sure
that you are utilizing them fully.
Before you take even the first step on your road to success be
sure you understand exactly where you are starting from.
